85%* of parents think that the school (teachers and class-masters) is primarily responsible for educating children about safe use of the Internet and 15% of teachers admit that they do not know how to teach children to use the Internet in a safe way.

96%
of teachers think that parents are primarily responsible for educating children about safe use of the Internet, whereas 53% of parents do not know how to teach their children to use the Internet in a safe way and 10% of parents do not have any computer or Internet skills.

40% of children or adolescents have not been informed about safe use of the Internet

30% of parents believe that the Internet does not involve any threat to children.

30% of children and adolescents chat to strangers on the Internet and half have dated at least one of their Internet friends in real life and one out of four people looked different to how he or she had described on the Internet.

The main aim of Net-Safe Latvia project is to educate children and adolescents, their parents and teachers about safer use of the Internet.
